Coffeeshops and Rock Stars

And Step On It!

I felt like dirt. I knew I couldn’t tell Bree what was going on over text, so I told her to meet me outside. Natalie was there and was all over me, but I told her I was getting a call from my mom. She told me to tell her she said hello, and I nodded curtly. I had to get outside.

When I got out there, I found Bree standing against a wall picking at her cuticles. The stage door slammed behind me and she looked up, her beautiful smile plastered across her face. “Hey.” I sighed out. Her expression turned into worry when I didn’t return her smile.

“Ash, what’s going on?” Bree looked at me and I could see fear sprinkling across her face as well. “Is everything okay?”

“Bree, I’m so sorry. I-I-“ I started stuttering, and it made me so angry. All the feelings I had immediately flooded over me and I was so pissed off all of a sudden. Tears welled up in my eyes and I hadn’t even told her anything yet.

“Hey, Ash, baby, calm down. Just talk to me. What’s up?” She walked towards me and gripped my bicep. I took a deep breath.

“Natalie’s what’s up. You were right about her. She’s psychotic. I went back to the hotel this morning and found out she stole our tour bus engine and she wouldn’t give it back unless I said I would never talk to you romantically. I fucked up, Bree. I’m sorry. God, I’m so sorry. I love you.” The words left my mouth before I could stop them and I regret them immediately. A sad smile crept across her face.

“I love you, too. You have a really bright future and I’m glad you didn’t choose me over your career. That would have been the mistake, not this. Good luck on tour Ash. I’m going to miss you.” And with that goodbye leaving her mouth, she kissed my cheek and walked away.

I had just watched the girl of my dreams walk away, and the girl of my nightmares was inside waiting for me. I walked back towards the stage door that had been propped open with a brick, but I dared one last glance over my shoulder- Bree was gone, and probably for good.

When I got inside I was bombarded with questions from the other band members asking about my mom. I grabbed Luke and pulled him to the side, ignoring everyone else’s questions. None of the guys knew what was going on, but I knew I could tell Luke.

“Luke, I need to talk to you.” I jerked my head over to the corner in the back of the greenroom. Luke’s smile faded into a line and he nodded, obviously knowing there was something wrong.

When we arrived in the corner, Luke spoke. “Dude, what’s up with Natalie? She’s all over Calum, me, and Michael. It’s lucky she got our engine back from that thief-“

“SHE WAS THE THIEF!” I bellowed out before I could help myself. Everyone around the room looked at me. Natalie raised an eyebrow and I shook my head. I lowered my voice again and said “She’s the one who stole the engine. She’s in love with me and is totally convinced that We were ‘meant to be’ or whatever. She made me break up with Bree so we could get our engine back and I just told Bree about it and she was so sad but she was still smiling and I feel like a major ass, Luke. We can’t trust Natalie with anything.”

“Holy shit, mate. I’m so sorry. I’ll tell the other guys when I get a chance. And I’ll take care of Natalie, don’t worry.” Luke gave me a smile, and for once, I was so glad that I could trust my band mates. “Go get Bree, mate.”

I took out my phone and called her immediately, desperately hoping she would answer. The phone kept ringing as I ran through the venue. After forty seconds, her voicemail picked up.

Hey, you’ve reached Bree. I’ve probably got my nose in a book, so leave me a message and I’ll call you back after this chapter!”

I burst through the doors to the outside and my ears were met with screaming girls. I felt bad for ignoring them, but Bree was the only thing that mattered at that moment. I kept calling and calling and calling her, but she ignored my calls- I always had to wait 40 seconds to get her voicemail. I hailed a taxi, not caring if I would get mobbed by screaming girls. Thankfully, the taxi got there before the girls did, and I slid in and repeated Bree’s address as quickly as possible. “And step on it!” I added breathlessly. The cab driver raised an eyebrow at me and then drove away.

I got to Bree’s house to find that it was empty. She hadn’t gone back there. I wonder where she went? I paced her driveway quickly and I kicked Bree’s flat tires. She didn’t go back home, where would she go?

Then it hit me. I got back in the cab and told the driver where to go. He looked at me with furrowed eyebrows. “You know that’s closed, right?”

“Yeah, I do. Now lets go!”

I'm thinking of doing a chapter from Luke's POV for when he deals with Natalie. What do you guys think?

And should I end the story after Luke deals with Natalie and Ashton and Bree talk?
