English Love Affair
Chapter 5- Calum's True Self
Before I could fall asleep like that, the boys made a big ruckus about changing the game, which jerked me awake.
I got up and went to the porch out back. In the day time, if you looked past all the houses, you could see the ocean.
I hadn’t even stood outside for 5 minutes when Ashton came onto the porch. “Their new video game I boring,” he said looking up at the clear, starry sky.
“It’s a beautiful night,” I said after an awkward moment of silence.
“Not as beautiful as you,” he said quietly.
I looked at him. And I blushed and smiled. “Thank you,” I said nervously pulling at my hair. I stepped closer to him and put my head on his shoulder again. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I breathed in his scent. Cologne and pizza and popcorn.
I blinked away tears. Why did Calum have to be the way he is? He was over controlling. He would never let us be together.
I quickly stepped away. “Calum wouldn’t like this,” I said turning away so he wouldn’t see my face,
“Who cares what he thinks?” Ashton said, putting his hand on my shoulder. “I like you. And I think you like me too. You shouldn’t let Calum micro-manage your life.”
“I’m not,” I said quickly. “We promised to not fight about stupid stuff anymore. And what if he got so made that it split up your band?”
He looked sad. “That wouldn’t happen. But I want to be with you. Don’t you?”
“It’s a bad idea,” I said stepping back inside. I went up to my room. After a minute, Maria came up. Apparently she knew what happened. As she hugged me, I started crying.
